"...gifted and compositionally powerful postbop group that's already on the way to becoming the British scene's international success story of 2008."
Guardian Guide, Feb 08

You’d expect an agent to wax lyrical about their artist, and this we do often. It’s always reassuring when key folks join us in such praise. For some time now we’ve been saying that 2008 is the year of Empirical, five young guys whose stratospheric rise through the ranks of the UK jazz scene shows no signs of slowing. Two months on from topping the polls of Mojo and Jazzwise magazines for Album of the Year, and that positive sentiment is being echoed in media across the land ( "...tipped as this year's break through jazzers." – TimeOut, Jan ‘08, “Empirical's blend of imaginative solo improvisation, post-bop ensemble work and compositional nous easily justifies the plaudits they've been receiving from the jazz critics." - Record Collector, March '08).

Perhaps you have already booked them, maybe we have spoken about them but not yet firmed up a show, or, heaven forbid, we simply haven’t got past your answerphone. Whichever it may be, we wanted to share two relevant links with you. The first is the excellent feature running in today’s Guardian newspaper, written by John Fordham
HERE. The other is a chance to hear the band’s interview and performance on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune which went out last night. You can hear it again for six more days HERE.

As you would expect, the band’s diary is filling up fast, with shows from Vancouver to Whitby and New York to the Isle of Wight. If you’d like to hear more Empirical, try their
Myspace page. Please enjoy the Guardian and In Tune, and lets speak soon.

To get in contact please call Bethan on +44(0)20 7386 1600 or email bethan@airmtm.com

PS Empirical continue their sold out run at London’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club tonight and tomorrow.

See them at the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival on Saturday 12th April “On the Edge” in the Ventnor Baptist Church which is accessible to package, stroller or day ticket holders and can be paid for by gig for £5 on the door.
